Beit al-Quran
Beit al-Quran was opened in
Manama,
Bahrain, in 1990 as a museum and research center. It is a
unique project funded primarily from contributions by local people.
The building is a triple combination of mosque, repository of a rare
collection of manuscripts and a centre for studies. It houses a
unique collection of Quranic and Islamic manuscripts, prints, and
wood carvings, some of the artifacts were given to Beit al-Quran
from private collections.
The al-Furqan Library holds around 50,000 volumes and is expected to
become a major centre for the study of the Quran.
